Camping in Tanzania with Robin Hurt Safaris is as comfortable as staying in a first class hotel, with the added attraction that you and your party are the only guests! Our camps are designed with the experience of over 45 years of African Safaris. We hope the following information will help make your safari even more enjoyable.
A sleeping tent is the size of a large bedroom with space for two adults. The tents are well ventilated, with mosquito proof windows and with a zipped door both at the front and rear. Each tent has its own verandah, which is furnished with camp chairs and tables. Your sleeping tent has two single beds, or a double bed if requested, with comfortable foam mattresses, cotton sheets and duvets.
Your sleeping tent has your ensuite private bathroom with shower, lavatory and traditional washstands.
Your tent attendant always has hot water available and just has to be called when needed, be it for a wash, shave or shower.
Laundry is done on a daily basis except on the days when you move camp. Please put clothes you would like washed in the laundry basket and they will be returned in the evening.
Electricity is provided to each tent, backed up by a solar inverter. Torches are also available. Each camp has a generator for refrigerators and deep freezers. The generator can also be used to recharge video batteries. Please bring a converter for 240 volts down to 115 volts and adaptors to fit the standard UK three pin sockets.
Meals are served in the Mess Tent. Breakfast includes Tea, Coffee, fresh juices, fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, sausages etc. You will either enjoy a picnic lunch under the shade of an Acacia Tree or return to camp for a buffet lunch. Dinner is a three-course meal with soups/starters, a wholesome main course and delicious desserts. All our food is freshly prepared in Camp and cooked over hot coals. There is a section in the Questionnaire on food preferences that will be sent to you nearer the time. There is also a fully stocked Bar in the Mess so please help yourself. After all, the camp is your home.
Your ever-attentive camp crew are always on duty. The camp crew is made up of your personal Tent steward, cooks, mess attendants, porters and truck drivers. They operate as a team and are extremely friendly and always willing to help.
